Douglas Kidd is an actor known for his clever and devious onscreen presence and for playing characters who are wealthy. Kidd was born Douglas James Miller on May 11, 1963 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was the third child of four, the second of three boys. His father, George Miller, is of Austrian descent, and his mother, Arlene (Guerard), has Scottish, Irish, Finnish and French ancestry. After graduating from Windsor Secondary School in 1981, Kidd accepted a wrestling scholarship at Simon Fraser University. Then in 1985, while completing a bachelor's degree in English Literature, he was inspired to audition for his university's acting program and was accepted on the spot. Soon after graduating in 1987 he began finding acting work, including roles in Top Cops (1992), Forever Knight (1995), Spenser: A Savage Place (1995) and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1995), which starred David Carradine. Wrote the song titled "In the Night" that his character, Eric, performs in the movie Psycho Scarecrow (1996). Was politely offered a cigarette by Gary Oldman at the backstage party for the premiere of Criminal Law (1988) in Toronto, Canada. Though a non-smoker, Kidd accepted the offer on a whim prompting Oldman to exclaim, "It's so nice to find another actor who still smokes these days!". Related to "Captain (William) Kidd", the notorious 17th-Century Scottish pirate. Graduated from the Theater Program and completed a degree in English at Simon Fraser University (1981-1987).
